Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akhmetzhanov Marat Muratovich

Marat Akhetzhanov was born on December 22, 1964. He has a higher education, he graduated from the Law Department of E.A. Buketov Karaganda State University.

He started his career in 1991 as a trainee, then he worked as an investigator of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Temirtau.

In 1993-1996 – senior investigator of high-profile cases of the Special prosecutor’s office for fighting corruption under the General Prosecutor’s Office, head of the Division of regional investigators of the Department for investigation of particularly serious crimes of the General Prosecutor’s Office.

In 1996-1997 – head of the division of the Department for investigation of particularly serious crimes of the State Investigative Committee, head of the Investigation Division of the Military Investigative Department of the State Investigative Committee.

In 1997-1998 – head of the Investigation Division of the Military Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In 1998-2001 – deputy director of the Investigation Department and deputy chairman of Committee on execution of judicial decisions in the Ministry of Justice.

In 2001 - head of the Department on supervision of legality of preliminary investigation and inquiry of the General Prosecutor’s Office.

In 2003-2006 – prosecutor of Pavlodar oblast.

In 2006-2009 - prosecutor of South Kazakhstan oblast.

In 2009-2012 – chairman of the Committee for legal statistics and special records of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan

In 2012 – deputy chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for fighting economic and corruption crimes

In 2014-2016 – head of the Civil Service and Anti-corruption Department of Atyrau oblast, head of the Department of the National Bureau for Fighting Corruption of Atyrau oblast.

From June 2, 2016 – deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan

He has the class rank of the state councilor of justice of the 3rd class (2004)

He was awarded the orders Kurmet (2008) and Dunq of the 2nd class (2014), jubilee medals “10th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “10th Anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Constitution”, “10th Anniversary of Astana”, by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation was granted with the commemorative medal “300 years of the Russian Navy” and medal “Admiral Kuznetsov”.

He is married, he has two children.
