On Signing of Interstate Agreements between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia (October 25, 2016, Riyadh)

Today, as part of the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to Riyadh, interstate agreements were signed with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on extradition and transfer of sentenced persons.

The Kazakh Prosecutor General emphasized that the signing of these documents was an important step towards strengthening the Kazakh-Arab partnership, ensuring the law and order, protection of fundamental rights and interests of citizens of the both countries.

The Parties noted that the arrangements achieved were intended to reinforce cooperation between competent authorities of the two countries and to make an important contribution to the fight against crime and ensuring the law and order.

Kazakhstan is the first country in the CIS to enter into such agreements with Saudi Arabia. This is the evidence of the mounting confidence of the Arab world to the legal system of Kazakhstan.

During the visit, Zh. Assanov held a bilateral meeting with Prosecutor General of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Fahd Al Abdullah, on the fight against terrorism, transnational organized criminal activity, crimes in Information Technologies, and the extradition and transfer of sentenced persons.

The heads of offices have expressed their interest in further expansion of cooperation in the legal area.
