Today the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with the Prosecutor General.

The Head of the State noted that the prosecutors are tasked with implementing the highest supervision of observance of the rights, legitimate interests of citizens and the implementation of legislation.

"To date, all measures have been taken in the country to ensure legality: law enforcement agencies and the judicial system have been reformed, and relevant laws have been enacted, including protecting businesses from illegal inspections. Only their qualitative execution is needed, "Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In turn, Kairat Kozhamzharov reported on the stability of the socio-political situation in the country.

In order to ensure its provision by the prosecutor's office systemic measures are taken to comply with the rule of law and order.

A number of prosecutor's checks were conducted to protect the citizens’ rights in the sphere of labor, communal, land relations, tariff formation and employment.

As a result, the rights of 3.5 million citizens are protected, including wage arrears in the amount of 1 billion tenge, in 7 regions tariffs for 1.5 million consumers were reduced. Total compensation of damages to citizens and the state in the amount of 117 billion tenge refunded.

The crime rate in the country decreased by 10%, from 196 thousand to 176 thousand.

In addition, the Prosecutor General reported to the Head of the State on the state of supervision over the criminal prosecution authorities’ activity.

He noted about the measures taken to reform the criminal process and reduce the repressiveness of law enforcement.

The number of detainees decreased by 34% (from 9,789 to 6,508), arrested during the investigation by 30% (from 8,835 to 6,148).

In four times (from 37 to 159), the number of released citizens by prosecutor's offices from temporary detention cells and office cabinets of pre-trial investigation bodies has increased.

Courts are also seldom sentenced to imprisonment - out of 12,000 prisoners this year only one-third or four thousand are sent to the colony.

Also Kairat Kozhamzharov reported on the effectiveness of supervision over the legality of judicial acts.

According to the protests of the General Prosecutor, the Supreme Court has improved the situation of more than 200 persons, 37 of them have been acquitted and 166 have been reduced.

The prison population has decreased by almost 3 thousand prisoners since the beginning of the year (from 35,805 to 33,041).

"The law on humanization, signed by You last month, has already improved the situation of 230 persons who committed economic and property crimes. In general, ensuring public safety, observance of the rule of law and order are on our constant control, "the Prosecutor General said.

They discussed separately matters of safety in transport and passenger transportation.

The results of inspections of the state of combat readiness of troops, mobilization and safety of military property are reported.

Following the meeting, the Head of the State gave a number of specific instructions.
