Prosecutor General participated at the 26th meeting of Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States (7 September 2016, Minsk)

Today Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Mr. Zhakip Assanov took part at the 26th meeting of Coordinating Council of CIS Member States Prosecutors General held in Minsk.

The heads of high supervision authorities of CIS countries, in particular Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan participated at the event.

Prosecutors discussed the topical issues of further cooperation in countering modern challenges and threats. They exchanged views on protection of citizens’ rights especially those who are beyond their countries, and also on implementing interstate programs of joint measures on fight against crime.

Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan shared experience of Kazakhstani Law Enforcement agencies on decreasing prison population. In particular, he told about measures that let Kazakhstan to withdraw the 50 leader countries on prison index. The meeting participants assumed that information with enthusiasm.

After meeting Mr. Zhakip Assanov conducted negotiations with Prosecutors General of Russia Mr. Yury Chaika, of Belarus Mr. Alexander Konyuk, of Kyrgyzstan Ms. Indira Dzholdubayeva, and with Executive Secretary of CCPG Mr. Leonid Yermolayev.

During the visit there were also held bilateral meetings with heads of prosecutor’s offices of CIS countries, during which the sides discussed the main directions of interactions.
