Astana, April 12, 2018. Today, General Prosecutor Kairat Kozhamzharov met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Michael John Gifford.

The Ambassador was briefed about the activity of supervisory authority, about carrying out reforms of Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure in state.

The issues of strengthening mutual cooperation were discussed and the effectiveness of realization of the signed Treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, also the possibility of signing agreements on extradition and the transfer of sentenced persons was noted.

K. Kozhamzharov underlined the necessity of learning British legal system experience, synergy of law enforcement agencies of both states in combating against crimes and terrorism, also in providing international security.

Participants of the meeting highlighted successful cooperation of parties in the framework of the International Financial Center “Astana” activity, which system is based on implementation of principles of the English Law. Last year in August, the relevant Memorandum on cooperation between General Prosecutor’s Office and IFCA was signed.

At the end of the meeting K. Kozhamzharov stressed the readiness of the General Prosecutor's Office for further Kazakh-British cooperation.
