The Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan and the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia signed a number of agreements - 171799172

Astana, April 26, 2018. Today, Prosecutor General Kairat Kozhamzharov met with Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin.

K.Kozhamzharov thanked A. Bastrykin for the visit and stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in law enforcement.

"Kazakhstan and Russia are strategic partners, incl. in questions of combating crime, " the Prosecutor General said.

For his part, A. Bastrykin also stressed the historical peculiarity of bilateral cooperation. "For 11 years of the functioning of the Investigative Committee, we have established not formal but real working contacts. They are conducted in the main areas of practical investigative activities, "he added.

For the past 5 years, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan has granted 131 Russian applications for extradition. The Russian side granted 272 applications for the extradition of our citizens.

For the further serving of the punishment, we adopted 112 Kazakhstan citizens convicted persons in Russia, and sent 242 Russian citizens.

In the course of the meeting, the parties signed an agreement between the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on cooperation and the Agreement on cooperation in the territory of the Baikonur complex.

Within the framework of the first agreement, the parties agreed on cooperation in the field of combating crime, sharing their experience on methods and ways for disclosing and investigating crimes, incl. terrorist, extremist, corruption-oriented, in the sphere of economy and high technologies.

Conclusion of the Cooperation Agreement on the territory of the Baikonur complex will strengthen the Kazakh-Russian partnership in the field of preliminary investigation of criminal cases, ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms in the territory of the administrative center.

"I am confident that the signed agreements and the visit will give a new impetus to our cooperation and increase the effectiveness of joint efforts to counter modern threats," Kairat Kozhamzharov said.
