Press release on the meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (Astana, June 15, 2015)

Today there has been held the meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbayev with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Ms. Astrid Thors.

The Prosecutor General has told to the High Commissioner about the measures undertaken by the prosecution authorities in the field of ensuring interethnic consent and prevention of violations of the national minorities rights.

During the meeting there was a substantive discussion on topical issues of human rights. The issues on application of law on languages, as well as discrimination on ethnic and linguistic grounds became the special topic of conversation.

Ms. A.Thors expressed content with the conducted conversation, and also expressed her appreciation on the cooperation and active interaction in the sphere of human rights protection.

 Mr. A.Daulbayev has also confirmed that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan is open for dialogue and continuing of joint work on this direction.

It should be noted that this conversation was a continuation of meeting  with Ms. A.Thors which was held in June last year.
