Press-release on extradition of Kazakhstan citizen from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia December 22, 2016

Today employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Interpol of the RK MIA with the assistance of the Embassies of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have extradited a citizen of Kazakhstan to bring him into criminal account. It is the result of the achieved agreements of Kazakhstan with its Saudi Arabia partners.

In order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time ever granted the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the RK on extradition of Omar Mukhit.

He is accused of stealing budget money in the amount of 200 million tenge being the chair of LLC board and caused material damage to the state presented by the National Innovations Fund JSC, as well as to the private entrepreneur in the amount of 150 million tenge and Nurbank JSC in the amount of 240 000 000 tenge. The full amount of the damage summed up approximately 600 million tenge (591 995 374 tenge).

Currently M.Omar is settled at the detention facility.

Looking back, the interstate treaties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on extradition and transfer of sentenced persons were concluded  within the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev on October 26. The documents from Kazakhstani signed were signed by Prosecutor General Zh.Assanov.
