Press-release On bilateral meeting of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chief Prosecutor of Georgia (Astana, May 21st 2013)

In the Prosecutor General’s office of Kazakhstan took place a meeting between the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Mr.Askhat Daulbayev and Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Mr.Archil Kbilashvili.

During the meeting A.Daulbayev highly appreciated fruitful cooperation with the competent authorities of Georgia in strengthening law and order between the two countries. He pointed out that this visit is an important step for the further development of established relationships between the supervisory authorities of Kazakhstan and Georgia, as well as confirmation of the parties' interest in strengthening the existing relations.

The Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan also informed the foreign colleagues on the priorities of the prosecution in Kazakhstan, the work being done in the field of ​​the expansion and strengthening of the international legal cooperation, and the process of reforming the law enforcement system in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, took place a constructive dialogue and exchange of views on topical inter-agency issues, particularly in the field of combating transnational organized crime, as well as in the field of provision of legal assistance in criminal matters. A.Daulbayev mentioned that in matters of regional security it is topically to further consolidate efforts in solving common challenges in combating crime.

In his turn, the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia thanked Kazakhstani colleague for the warm welcome and expressed his readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation. He also spoke about the process of reform of the legal system in Georgia and shared experience of fighting corruption.

Following the negotiations, the Parties signed an inter-agency Memorandum of Understanding.
