Today, a bilateral meeting of the First Deputy Prosecutor General Iogan Merkel with the US State Secretary’s Deputy Assistant for Southern and Central Asia Mr. Daniel Nathan Rosenbloom took place.

A wide range of questions of bilateral legal cooperation, including the areas of strengthening the agreement base and mutual legal assistance in criminal law, has been discussed during the meeting.

The Parties expressed their consent on the achieved level of cooperation. As I.Merkel stated, the Prosecutor General’s office of Kazakhstan actively cooperates with American competent authorities in fighting crime, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and extradition on the mutual basis. 

He also told about main trends of Kazakhstan prosecution service and about measures taken to ensure legality and judicial order, emphasizing that the human rights protection is of a high attention of prosecutors during criminal prosecution issues.

The parties noted that, within the framework of modern geopolitical tasks in ensuring international and regional security, the topicality of further consolidation of strengths in joint tasks to fight modern challenges arises, and expressed their readiness to further deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation.
