Today the First Deputy Prosecutor General Iogan Merkel met with the UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia Ashita Mittal.

The parties exchanged opinions in wide range of issues of regional and international cooperation, mostly in the area of fighting organized transnational crimes and drug trafficking.

I.Merkel informed the UNODC Representative of the most important trends of reforming the law enforcement system of Kazakhstan, conceptual norms of new criminal law and measures taken to guarantee the human rights protection.

The First Deputy Prosecutor General emphasized that combating crime is of first priority in service of competent authorities of Kazakhstan, taking into consideration the geopolitical status of the country.
