Today the First Deputy Prosecutor General IoganMerkel has held a meeting with the Deputy Attorney General of the Islamic Republic of Iran HosseinZabhi.
The parties exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the field of the fight against organized transnational crime and expanding the legal framework.

Mr. I. Merkel have expressed his gratitude to his colleague forthe participation in the work of the International Seminar on the issues of combatting drug crimes, which is being hold in Astana these days. He has noted that the fight against crime is one of the priority directions of the activity of the authorized state bodies of Kazakhstan, especially due to the geopolitical position of the country. He also informed his counterpart about interaction on combating crime with the competent authorities of near and far abroad.

This day Mr. I. Merkel has also met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of KazakhstanMr. Alberto Pieri.

Mr. I.Merkel told the guest on the course of reforming the law enforcement system, on measures undertaken by Kazakhstan in strengthening of guarantees of human rights protection, on results of interaction with the competent authorities of near and far abroadon combating crime.

Theissue of expansion of contractual-legal base between the two countries has been become the important topic of conversation.

The guests have expressed their appreciation for reception and conceptual information.
