29 November 2017, Saint Petersburg. Today Prosecutor General Zhakyp Assanov took part in the 27th session of Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States and the 15th session of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States.
The leaders of the highest supervisory bodies of the CIS countries, and the SCO – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, India, China, Pakistan, representatives of the observer states of Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia attended the meeting.
Within the framework of the session of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, Prosecutor General Zh. Assanov made a presentation on the topic: “Simplification and acceleration of the criminal process in the Republic of Kazakhstan,” where he shared experience of the Kazakh law enforcement agencies in optimizing the criminal process, as part of the President’s order to reform the law enforcement system.
The main theme of the SCO discussion was “Counteraction to crimes committed using modern information and communication technologies.”
During the visit, Zh. Assanov held a bilateral meeting with the Procurator-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China Cao Jianming, during which the parties signed memorandums of understanding and cross-border cooperation.
Additionally, the Prosecutor General met with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yu. Chaika and Attorney General of Afghanistan M. Khamidi, where they discussed topical issues in the field of combating transnational crime.
