Information technology against extremism and terrorism

Today in Taraz city has completed the work of two-day round table which was organized on the theme “Information Technology: strengthening the role in the fight against extremism and terrorism” by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).

The forum was attended by representatives of the central state bodies, prosecutor's offices of Almaty, Kyzyloda and South Kazakhstan oblasts.

Meeting was opened by the prosecutor of Zhambyl oblast Sybankulov E.M. He noted the high relevance of the topic to improve the activities of the prosecution authorities in the framework of combating terrorism and extremism.

Welcoming remarks were made by the akim of Zhambyl oblast Karim Kokrekbayev.

On the agenda of the forum - to discuss topical issues of strengthening international cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism, preventing the spread of extremist ideology from the use of information technology. Also held an exchange of views on enhancing the role of public institutions and the media to ensure information security, increasing religious literacy of the population in terms of the information space.

During the round table it was presented automated systems Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts, as well as the data exchange system of law enforcement and special agencies of government to prevent the suppression of extremist manifestations tons.

  German experts shared their experience in the fight against terrorism in Germany, about the legal basis of the activities of special units.

As noted by the forum’s participants, new information technologies are an important tool supervisory activities and are designed to provide active assistance in counter-terrorism and investigation of crimes in this area.
