Astana, August 27, 2018.Today General Director Kairat Kozhamzharov met with the delegation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headed by Deputy Director David L. Bowditch. Foreign colleagues discussed the issues of constructive bilateral cooperation on the implementation of requests for mutual legal assistance. Over the past three years, they received only 16 requests, including 6 from the FBI, which are fully implemented.
Separately there were discussed the issues of extradition of persons between Kazakhstan and the United States, as well as the transfer of convicts to serve their sentences in their countries.
In addition, the FBI delegation was informed about the activities of the Supervisory authority, its functions and tasks, achievements in the field of international cooperation, reforms in the country on modernization and humanization of the criminal policy.
Noting the great experience of the FBI in combating transnational crime, Kairat Kozhamzharov expressed readiness to expand cooperation.
The activities of the Academy of law enforcement under the Prosecutor General's office were also discussed during the meeting, as well as the prospect of sharing experiences with the national Academy of the FBI, known for its unique training program for law enforcement officers of the world.
At the end of the meeting, the Prosecutor General thanked his colleagues for the visit and expressed hope for the strengthening of bilateral relations.
