In Urumqi (China) there was held a regular cross-border meeting of representatives of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan and the Supreme People's Prosecutor's Office of China.

Common efforts between the countries formed a strategic partnership between the security, law enforcement and special services on topical issues.

A new impetus to bilateral relations was given by the Memorandum on cooperation and the Agreement on cross-border cooperation signed by the General Prosecutor's offices of two countries in November 2017 in St. Petersburg in the framework of the 15th meeting of General Prosecutors-participants of the SCO.

During the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of cooperation, shared their experience in the fight against crime, including combating terrorism and extremism.

Representatives of the Kazakhstani delegation expressed gratitude to foreign colleagues for their assistance in the consideration of issues of international legal assistance in criminal cases and the transfer of convicts.

Over the past two years, 15 Kazakhs convicted by a Chinese court have been transferred from China to Kazakhstan to serve their sentences.

The event ended with the signing of the Protocol of held cross-border meetings.

We recall that this is the second meeting of the Supervisory authorities of both countries. The first was held in December 2017 in Almaty.
