Bilateral meetings of prosecutors general of the CIS and SCO countries (Astana, August 26, 2015)

Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbayev held a series of meetings within the framework of 13th meeting of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and 25th meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Mr. Askhat Daulbayev met with the Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz  Republic Ms. Indira Dzholdubaeva, Prosecutor General of  the Republic of Armenia Mr. Gevorg Kostanyan, Prosecutor  General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Chayka, the SCO Secretary-General Mr. Dmitry Mezentsev, Chairman of the CIS Executive  Committee Mr. Sergey Lebedev.

The meetings were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere. A wide range of issues of enhancing cooperation between the prosecutor's offices in the framework of the SCO and the CCPG of the CIS were discussed during them.

The parties noted that the modern integration process in the framework of the mentioned international organizations provide a solid basis for strengthening external relations and the transition of relations to a qualitatively new level.

Mr. A.Daulbayev drew attention of foreign colleagues on the issue of the  fight against transnational crime, combating drug trafficking, trafficking of prohibited items, uncontrolled movement, noting the existing problems in these areas that threaten the security of citizens.

The interlocutors concurred on the necessity to improve international cooperation on mutual legal assistance, to continue the exchange of experience in the main areas of prosecutors' activities, to take effective measures to counter the various transnational threats of security.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was founded on June 15, 2001 by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of  Uzbekistan as a permanent intergovernmental international organization.

Currently, Afghanistan, Belarus, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have a status of observers of the SCO. Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners.                 On  July 10, 2015 it was decided on accession of India and Pakistan as the member states, as well as the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal as dialogue partners to SCO.

The Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states  was founded on December 7, 1995. Under the decision of the Council of heads of of the CIS member states taken on January 25, 2000, CCPG received the status of the CIS interstate body. The document was signed by the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and Ukraine.
