December 6, 2018, Astana. Today, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Kozhamzharov held a bilateral meeting with the Federal Prosecutor of the United Arab Emirates Mr. Al-Shamsi.
The parties discussed aspects of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the criminal sphere, legal mechanisms for combating crime, including the return of stolen assets, extradition of criminals and delivery of convicts in criminal cases.
During the period of the agreement on the extradition of persons in recent years, the Ministry of Justice of UAE issued 9 criminals hiding in their country.
The colleagues discussed the possibility of extradition of persons involved in major financial crimes and the participation of Kazakhstani investigators in the investigation of persons hiding in the territory of the Emirates.
In addition, there was an exchange of experience on countering the threats of terrorism and religious extremism, including legislative, organizational and preventive measures taken in this direction.
In turn, the Federal Prosecutor Al-Shamsi noted the effective work of Kazakhstani colleagues to strengthen the rule of law, international cooperation and assured of the interest in the development of bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting Kairat Kozhamzharov expressed readiness to continue constructive cooperation.
Within the framework of participation of representatives of supervisory agencies of foreign countries in the international conference "Strengthening of interregional cooperation and coordination of efforts in the fight against organized crime" in Astana, the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan K. Kozhamzharov held a number of bilateral meetings.
