In the framework of the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. N.Nazarbayev to Tehran there was held the ceremony of signing the Agreement between the Republic Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the transfer of the sentenced persons.
From the Kazakhstani side Prosecutor General Mr. Askhat Daulbayev, from Iranian side Minister of Justice Mr. Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi Rouhani signed the Agreement.
Previously Kazakhstan concluded the treaties on extradition, on legal assistance and legal relations on civil and criminal matters with Iran. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran has become the first Middle East country with which Kazakhstan established all necessary international legal framework for effective cooperation of law enforcement authorities of two countries.
The sides noted that signing of this international document would be important step on strengthening Kazakhstan-Iran partnership in countering crime, ensuring law and order as well as the basic rights and freedoms of citizens of two countries.
On this day Mr. A.Daulbayev held bilateral meetings with Minister of Justice Mr. Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi Rouhani, Prosecutor General Mr. Mohammad Jafar Montazeri and with First Deputy Chairman of Supreme Court, former Prosecutor General of Iran Mr. Mohseni Ejei. A wide range of issues of mutual interest was discussed during the meetings.
The interlocutors exchanged views on topical issues of international agenda. The focal areas of cooperation, in particular the issues on fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism, cyber-crime, drug trafficking, as well as exchange of work experience and information were touched upon.
The heads of authorities underlined solidarity of Kazakhstan and Iran on the matters of ensuring international and regional security in the context of modern world and expressed their willingness to strengthen relations in all directions of legal cooperation.
Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General of Iran highly appreciated the role of Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor’s office in implementing the country’s international-legal policy and confirmed their intention in deepening bilateral collaboration.
As a result of the meeting with Prosecutor General of Iran the sides signed interagency Memorandum on cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Prosecutor General’s office of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The document signed will give opportunity to develop bilateral relations between prosecution authorities of two countries in fight against crime, in the area of protection human rights and freedoms and also to exchange experience and information in countering organized crime, terrorism, extremism, corruption, illicit trafficking of arms, narcotic means and psychotropic substances, economic and cyber-crimes, and will let to expand the partnership in all aspects of legal cooperation.
