Today there has been held a meetingof the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbaevwith Minister of Justice of Hungary Mr. Laszlo Trocsanyi and Prosecutor General of Hungary Mr. Peter Polt, who arrived in Astana with an official visit in the delegation of the Prime Minister of HungaryMr. Viktor Orban.
Welcoming his Hungarian colleagues in Kazakhstan, the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan has highlighted the friendly and constructive bilateral relations in the legal field.
The interlocutors have exchanged their views on the actual issues of international agenda. The heads of authorities have stressed the solidarity and unity of Kazakhstan and Hungary on ensuring international and regional security in the context of the modern world.
During the meeting the sides have discussed the priority directions of cooperation in the legal sphere, in particular in combating crime, terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and also exchange of experience and information.
As a result of the meeting there has been signed the Memorandum on cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary.
There has been gained a dynamic experience of mutually beneficial cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan and Hungary thatis going to the qualitatively new level.
The bilateral treaties on extradition and on transfer of convicted persons were signed last year. Moreover, today the ceremony ofsigning the international Treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters has been held in UkimetUyi (Government House). So Hungary has become another country with which Kazakhstan has established completed legal framework for cooperation in criminal proceedings.
The parties noted that signing of the document is an important step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating crime and will improve the efficiency of the competent authorities of the two countries in the criminal justice field. Mutual legal assistance in criminal matters is an important element in the fight against crime and offers great opportunities for deepening cooperation.
As the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan has noted, the signing of the Treaty was a landmark event in expansion of Kazakh-Hungarian legal cooperation, joint efforts in the fight against crime, as well as to develop adequate measures to prevent threats and challenges in the context of globalization.
The sides expressed their interest in deepening bilateral relations in all areas of legal cooperation.
