About the participation of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Global Law Summit in London (London, February 23, 2015)

During his visit to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbayev took part at the Global Law Summit as a member of Kazakhstani delegation headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Karim Massimov.

The forum was organized by the British authorities in honor of the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta - the Great Charter of Liberty, written with the purpose of promoting free market economy and the rule of law. 
The forum was attended by nearly 2000 representatives of state and business structures, non-governmental organizations and academic circles from around the world. The main topics of the agenda were the issues related to the rule of law, access to justice, sustainable development, international business disputes, business and human rights, etc.

At the opening ceremony of the forum the Prime Minister of the Republic Kazakhstan Mr. Karim Massimov, the U.S. Attorney General Mr. Eric Holder, the Minister of Justice and Lord Chancellor of the UK Mr. Chris Grayling, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Mr. Angel Gurria gave speech.

The participants were shown various presentations on technologies and solutions that contribute to the definition of the rule of law in the coming decade, about the rule of law in the foundation for economic activity and international trade, on the application of the force of law, which is essential in any prosperous and healthy society, as well as global trends in international trade and laws that underpin them.

On the sidelines of the summit Mr. A.Daulbayev held bilateral meetings with his colleagues from foreign countries - the Ministers of Justice and Prosecutor Generals of the USA, Canada, Romania, Turkey, Oman, UAE on topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the legal sphere.

At the meeting with the US Attorney General Mr. E.Holder the sides congratulated each other with the signing of the Treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and also discussed the issues of cooperation in the legal sphere.

In the framework of the visit to London there was held a meeting of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbayev with the Director of the UK Serious Fraud Office Mr. David Green.

During the meeting there were discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, in particular related to human rights activities of the prosecution office, the issues of cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, money laundering, as well as about the process of Kazakhstan's accession to the Council of Europe conventions on the issues of international legal cooperation in criminal matters and the expansion and strengthening of bilateral legal framework. 
The parties stressed the urgency of uniting efforts in the framework of countering terrorism, providing national and international security, operative exchange of information and experience, also having noted the significant potential of legal cooperation between two countries.

Mr. A.Daulbayev underlined the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchange of information and experience in combating organized crime. Special attention was paid to the problems of detection and investigation of economic crimes, fraud, money laundering and return of assets obtained by criminal means.

The sides expressed mutual interest in further strengthening of cooperation between the competent authorities of two countries to effectively counter the challenges and threats of the modern world, development of common approaches for solution of regional problems in fighting against crime.
