First Deputy Prosecutor General Mr. Iogan Merkel took part at 2nd Global Forum for Associations of Prosecutors and 15th IAP European Regional Conference, which were held in the capital of Portugal from May 31 to June 3.
Heads of supervisory authorities, representatives of international and regional prosecution organizations from European, Latin American countries, the USA participated at the events.
The main themes of the agenda were the issues related to human trafficking, migration, money laundering, prosecution service’s financial autonomy, independence of public prosecution and the roles of associations in its ensuring.
Forum participants expressed their intention in strengthening practical cooperation between prosecutor’s communities in countering transnational organized crime and developing new approaches on their prevention.
On the sidelines of the conference Mr. I.Merkel held negotiations with the heads of International Association of Prosecutors, prosecutor generals of Albania, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also held meeting with Attorney General of Portuguese Republic. The counterparts discussed the issues of strengthening constructive cooperation, expanding contractual and legal base and deepening of interaction in fight against crime, ensuring of legality and rule of law.
