First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Iogan Merkel has held working meetings with the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, headed by Vice-Minister of Justice of Lithuania Paulius Griciunas this year from 21 to 22 April.
Within a framework of these meetings the sides discussed the issues of the rule-making activities of the two agencies, the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as outlined further ways to enhance cooperation between the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania.
Following the talks, the experts of the two countries also developed a draft Treaty on the transfer of persons sentenced to imprisonment, and those in respect of which apply coercive measures of a medical nature.
First written above an international document will regulate issues related to the provision of the possibility of Kazakh and Lithuanian citizens, convicted by foreign courts to prison and which applied compulsory measures of a medical nature, to serve his sentence, as well as undergo compulsory treatment in their home country, i.e. will ensure the social rehabilitation and reintegration of such persons. The signing of the Treaty is scheduled before the end of the year.
