Prosecutor General Mr. Askhat Daulbayev has held a meeting with a significant political and state figure Baroness Patricia Scotland in the Prosecutor General’s office.
Mr. Askhat Daulbayev has opened the meeting and congratulated the quest with election as the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations.
In the course of talks Prosecutor General has informed about the main activities of the prosecution bodies, Academy of Law Enforcement authorities under the Prosecutor General’s office as well as about the measures taken to ensure law and order, underlining that protection of human rights is the focus of special attention of prosecutors.
He has also emphasized the significance of the meeting for further expansion of bilateral cooperation and for exchange of experience on the development of judicial systems of Kazakhstan and Great Britain.
Mr. A.Daulbayev has expressed deep interest in work experience of Baroness in sphere of modernization of system of civil and criminal justice, reforming and developing European legislation. Being Attorney General of England and Wales, and holding positions in the House of Lords, ministries of foreign and internal affairs, Ms. Patricia Scotland made huge contribution to strengthening of judicial system and interaction of law enforcement authorities of the UK.
She contributed to the development of criminal legislation, investigation of serious crimes and also coordinated the Office of Crown Prosecution Service, which is empowered to investigate criminal cases and support public prosecution in court.
In the course of the meeting the topical issues of bilateral cooperation in countering transnational organized crime, extremism and terrorism, money laundering, maintenance of international security have been discussed.
The parties noted with satisfaction the established friendly relations between the competent authorities of two countries.
They emphasized that expansion of international judicial cooperation will be a significant facilitation in context of combatting the threats and challenges of the contemporary world. In order to achieve close interaction it is necessary to expand contractual and legal framework, to coordinate the mechanisms for exchange of information, best practices and experts.
Ms. Patricia Scotland has appreciated the role of prosecution authorities in implementing international-judicial policy of the country and reiterated her intention on deepening the cooperation in legal sphere.
Mr. A.Daulbayev has expressed hope for assistance of Baroness Scotland in developing mutually beneficial cooperation as in bilateral so as in multilateral formats with the member states of Commonwealth of Nations.
