Within the framework of visit to the Republic of Austria, Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Askhat Daulbayev met with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Mr.Johannes Kyrle.

During the conversation the parties discussed the prospects of further promotion of cooperation in the legal field. It was pointed out that the visit of Kazakhstan delegation is an important step for the further development of established fruitful relations, and exchange of experience in the development of legal systems.

In this context, particular attention was paid to the accession of Kazakhstan to the four conventions of the Council of Europe in the field of criminal law. A.Daulbayev noted that the legislation of Kazakhstan is developing dynamically and improving to correspond to all international standards in the field of protection of the citizens rights and freedoms. In this regard, the accession to the European Convention will fully contribute to the implementation of this goal.

J.Kyrle, thanking the guest for the visit, reported that the Austrian party will be a chairman in the Council of Europe since November of this year and in such position it intends to objectively consider the application of Kazakhstan. At the same time, he proposed to consider the possibility of deepening cooperation by concluding bilateral Agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. Secretary General of Austrian MFA expressed hope for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation based on mutual trust.
